St Andrew’s Healthcare is about to embark on its biggest fund-raising journey yet: “The Hope for Mental Health Appeal.” Launching publicly on Wednesday, 11 June 2025, the appeal will fuel two vital missions:

  • Enhancing every patient’s experience – from therapeutic spaces to creative activities that spark joy and recovery.

  • Driving pioneering mental-health research – so the breakthroughs discovered in Northampton can change lives nationwide.

Local Success Story: Wavey Creations: Painting Northampton with Fun and Flavour

When friends Christine McMillan and Rochelle Patel jetted off on holiday last spring, they never imagined the pool-side brainwave they scribbled on a napkin would blossom into one of Northampton’s most talked-about nights out.

Fast-forward to this year and Wavey Creations Events is running bi-monthly “sip and paint” sessions that are packing out venues and winning rave reviews.

From Idea to Reality

  • Launched: Autumn 2024

  • Mission: Bring the vibrant “sip and paint” craze from London and Birmingham home to Northampton, boosting footfall for local bars and cafés.

  • Format: Two tailored experiences

    • Sip & Paint Parties – cocktails, DJ, dancing, games and the chance to keep the party going after the canvases are dry.

    • Sip & Paint Evenings – a relaxed vibe with antipasti platters, chilled tunes and plenty of time to perfect each brush-stroke.

Growing One Canvas at a Time

  • Venues so far:

    • Jimmy’s Sports Bar – the perfect setting for the high-energy party edition.

    • Genevieve’s Café – host of the first laid-back evening event.

  • Feedback:

    • “Beyond our expectations,” says Christine.

    • Guests have mistaken debut nights for long-running events thanks to the polished set-up.

    • Word-of-mouth referrals are filling seats faster than advertising.

  • Unique to Northampton – no other local activity blends art, music and mixology quite like this.
