Weekly Success Story: Barratt Homes Teams Up with Northampton Hope Centre to Give the Community a Boost

When purpose-driven partners come together, remarkable things happen. Last week, eight volunteers from Barratt Homes Northampton swapped hard hats for helping hands, spending two full days supporting the vital work of Northampton Hope Centre.

Founded in 1974, the Hope Centre tackles disadvantage and marginalisation head-on, providing practical support while empowering people to rebuild their own lives. In just 48 hours on site, Barratt Homes’ commercial, land and planning teams:

  • Sorted and stocked hundreds of donated food items in the charity’s warehouse

  • Served customers in the pop-up shop, ensuring a warm welcome for everyone who walked through the door

  • Created an inviting space by organising displays and lending friendly conversation to those in need

“We always love working with Northampton Hope Centre. The passion of their staff and volunteers shines through every time,” said Hayley Peacock, Partnership Manager at Barratt Homes Northampton, after her third visit in eight months.

The appreciation is mutual. Jake Hill, Senior Corporate Fundraising Coordinator at the Hope Centre, noted:

“The difference extra hands can make is huge. When two groups who care deeply about Northamptonshire work together, our whole community feels the impact.”

For Barratt Homes, volunteering is more than a goodwill gesture; it’s woven into the company’s ethos. Simon Francis, Managing Director, summed it up:

“As a leading housebuilder, we strive to support the neighbourhoods where we build. It’s our hope these volunteering days made life a little easier for this incredible charity—and for the people who rely on it.”

Why It Matters

  • Community First: Practical support—from stocking shelves to friendly conversations—eases daily pressures on the Hope Centre and its guests.

  • Sustainable Impact: Regular corporate volunteers free the charity’s core team to focus on long-term initiatives such as education, housing advice and mental-health programmes.

  • Shared Values: Both organisations are rooted in Northamptonshire and committed to helping local people thrive.
