Weekly Success Story: Local Heroes Conquer Three Peaks for Retired Service Animals

What an incredible achievement to celebrate this week! A dedicated team of police officers, including four of our own from Northamptonshire, have successfully completed the gruelling Three Peaks Challenge whilst raising an outstanding £3,000 for charity.

PC Bradley Bowman, PC Daniel Bradley-Brophy, PC Lucy Sculthorpe, and PC Sean Foster joined forces with Leicestershire's Sergeant Grace Feavyour to tackle this monumental challenge on 13th June. Their mission? To raise vital funds for The National Foundation for Retired Service Animals (NFRSA) and Hero Paws - Life AFTER service, organisations close to their hearts that support our four-legged heroes in retirement.

The challenge began at Ben Nevis in Scotland under sunny skies, but Mother Nature had other plans. Just one hour into their climb, torrential rain began and didn't let up. After a punishing five-hour ascent, the team faced a gruelling five-hour drive to their next destination, arriving at Scafell Pike at 3am in the middle of a weather warning. Undeterred, they conquered England's highest peak in three and a half hours before making their final journey to Mount Snowdon in Wales.

Despite the appalling weather conditions and traffic disruptions, our heroes completed the entire challenge in an impressive 25 hours and six minutes - just over the traditional 24-hour target, but an extraordinary achievement given the circumstances they faced.

This fundraising effort holds special significance for our force, as recently retired Northamptonshire Police dogs RPD Gru, RPD Fama, and RPD Olly have all been registered with both charities that will benefit from the money raised.

PC Bradley Bowman reflected on the challenge: "This was, without doubt, the hardest and most physically demanding challenge that any of us has ever done. The scale of it got to us all at different times, but we pulled through as a team and always had each other's backs."

The team also extended heartfelt thanks to PC Ian Rudkin, who drove the minibus throughout their epic journey, and to everyone who supported them with messages of encouragement and generous donations.

Their determination, teamwork and commitment to supporting retired service animals truly embody the spirit of service that makes our community proud. Well done to all involved - you've shown that with dedication and mutual support, even the most daunting challenges can be conquered whilst making a real difference to those who need it most.
