Local Success Story

Giant Journeys Bring Dinosaurs to Life for Northamptonshire Schools!

Giant Journeys, a newly established educational provider, has sparked excitement among Northamptonshire primary schools with a unique opportunity: a free, immersive dinosaur experience featuring Reggie, a five-metre-long animatronic T-Rex. This thrilling chance has already garnered over 1,000 votes, with more than 80 schools entering to win an unforgettable workshop.

Established in September 2024 by Darren Smith, Giant Journeys redefines learning with creative, hands-on experiences. With over 20 years of expertise in engaging children through innovative methods, Darren’s vision is to make education an adventure. “Our mission is to inspire and educate young minds by bringing history, science, and more to life,” Darren explained. “We use technologies like Augmented Reality (AR) and Virtual Reality (VR) to spark curiosity and make learning an unforgettable journey.”

The competition, which is open for public voting on social media, closes on 15 November. After that, two schools will be selected as winners. Each winning school will experience one of Giant Journeys' workshops at no cost, giving students a hands-on encounter with the prehistoric world.

Darren added, “The enthusiasm has been overwhelming, and we’re thrilled to see so many schools participating. There’s still time for other schools to get involved and take their shot at winning!”

Natural Minds: November 11 @ 10:30 - 12:30 - £6.50

Natural Minds is a time for adults of all ages to take some active rest. At Barnwell Country Park, you can enjoy connecting with nature, meeting people, and learning new skills. This month is ‘Let’s get Toasty’—the very popular campfire session is back. Come and enjoy a warming morning with a walk, campfire, toasted marshmallows, and a soothing mug.

Wellbeing Walk Warmington: November 13 @ 10:45 - Free

The Warmington and Elton walk meet on the second Wednesday of the month, although this can occasionally vary. Come and join us on a gentle pace, approximately a 3-mile walk, with the opportunity to have refreshments afterwards at a local pub. The Wellbeing Walks are volunteer-led, friendly, and local. Everyone is welcome. You don’t need special equipment, just suitable shoes and clothes, and they recommend bringing a bottle of water.
